He began his career as a Research Scientist at Fusion Technology Institute in 1992, where he developed large-scale computer codes for atomic physics calculations and opacity modeling. Ping received his BS in Physics from Beijing Normal University in 1982 and his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Wisconsin in 1992.
